Garden Safety Products
CAUTION — As with ANY product:
make sure you read and understand all directions and precautions before use. The safety products that we offer you all come from the industrial world and, as such, meet the safety standards in the United States. The towelettes are used by municipal workers, foresters and power company crews. BugX Insect Repellent ToweletteBugX repels mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, chiggers, black flies, sand fleas, and deer flies. The active ingredient in BugX is Deets, making it ideal protection from mosquitoes, especially those that carry the West Nile Virus found in virtually every state. The Sate of California Department of Pesticide Regulation and the Center for Disease Control recommend Deets as the best for controlling mosquitoes. Unlike the newer formulas, DEET has been tested using a wider variety of biting insects, and has been approved for protection from these insects. Deet has been shown to be effective against the spread of West Nile virus and Lyme Tick disease. Richard Falco of Fordham University's Louis Calder Center in Armonk states: "Though Picaridin and oil of lemon eucalyptus are considered roughly as effective in repelling mosquitoes, they are not alternatives to DEET when it comes to battling deer ticks that spread Lyme disease." Additionally, the Center for Disease Control suggests using only Deet-based insect repellents for protection against Lyme Tick disease. It is an ideal item to take on a personal outing or an air plane trip when you don't want a compressed gas container to open accidentally in your luggage. The towelettes continue to work as long as they remain moist, so repack it in a sealable plastic bag to extend its usefulness. Poison Oak/Ivy/Sumac ToweletteThe two poison ivy towelettes are barriers and cleansers only. The best protection against poison Ivy, Oak and Sumac, is knowledge of what they look like and where they like to grow. Use the Ivy-X pre-contact towelette in the approved manner over uneven surfaces of the face, arms, and legs, before going into the garden or woods, where there is suspected poison ivy, etc. When returning, before going inside, scrub the surfaces of the face, arms and legs again with the Ivy-X cleanser towelette to remove any poisonous oils./p> Sun-X SunscreenThe Sun-X Sunscreen or Sun Block has passed all FDA testing to be rated an SPF 30+ sunscreen, and passed all FDA photo-toxicity tests (some sunscreens are not stable when irradiated with simulated sunlight). SunX is rated as a "Very Water and Very Sweat" resistant sunscreen – the highest rating available. It is "PABA" oil free ( para-amino benzoic acid) which about 20% of us are allergic to. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends PABA-free formulas. Sun-X provides broad spectrum UVA / UVB protection. Plastic Cap Knee PadsThese knee pads are great for working on your knees. Even on an uneven surface, they provide hours of comfort. The hard plastic shell protects, and acts as a barrier for the inner layer of foam cushion against the body. When attached with the sturdy straps, you are "good-to-go" for hours of gardening pleasure. Safety GlassesSafety glasses are a must when gardening. We have two kinds the Tremor Glasses and the Checkmate Glasses. Both have UV protection and pass safety standards. I am always open to new ideas and products that will help gardeners enjoy their work or hobby. |
